Tuba - Paul Conchie (The Conch)
Paul started playing the tuba at the tender age of 9 and was initially taught by Martyn Evans.
During the early years of his playing career Paul played with various Oldham Music Centre ensembles and was eventually invited to join the Ashton under lyne Band, where he quickly established himself as a key player. After leaving Ashton Paul played for several other bands as principal tuba.
Paul was a member of the National Youth Brass Band Of Great Britain where he took part in 8 courses.
At the age of 16 Paul received a scholarship to study under world renowned tuba player James Gourlay at the junior RNCM.
Once he completed his school studies he continued his musical journey and studied Tuba full time at the RNCM.
Paul returned as principal tuba to Ashton Under Lyne band in 2010 where he remains playing to this day.
