Tom started his musical journey in 1988 playing Tenor Horn with the Greenfield Training Band. He went on to play with various Saddleworth bands before becoming the Principal Cornet of the Hepworth Band at the age of 16. He was also a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.
He studied Trumpet at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and the Royal Academy of Music in London. During his time in London he undertook numerous professional engagements including work with the City of London Sinfonietta.
He moved back 'up north' in 2002 and recommenced playing with some of the finest music ensembles in the country.
In 2008 he began working for Stockport Music Service. Since 2015 he has also worked for Oldham Music Service. He has taught countless children over the last 10 years and has lead a number of school bands. His pupils have a 100% success rate in ABRSM Music exams.
As well as playing the trumpet, Tom is a successful conductor and is in high demand throughout the North West and Yorkshire.
